Cytokines are up and downregulated and their levels in plasma are indicative of physilogic changes. In some cases the up- or down-regulation of a single cytokine is of interest, in other cases a set of cytokines, growth factors and adhesion factors need to be measured.

We offer the measurement of several single cytokines by ELISA, and two panels of cytokines, panel 1 and panel 2. These panels use a flowcytometric bead assay that renders levels of several cytokines in one measurment in a small amount of plasma.

Panel 2:

Human Type 1 and 2 Cytokines and Human Adhesion Molecules


The two types of T-helper cells influence each other by the cytokines they secrete and determine the outcome of an antigenic response toward humoral or cell-mediated immunity. The interaction between cells via intimate cell-cell contact is facilitated by an array of cell surface adhesion molecules, which act via ligand- receptor binding.

The combined cytokine/adhesion assay is a multiplex fluorescent bead based immunoassay for the quantitative analyte detection by flowcytometry of human cytokines and adhesion molecules in cell culture supernatants, serum, plasma, or other body fluids. Microspheres coated with antibodies specific to each of the analytes can be differentiated by their sizes and by their distinct spectral addresses. A fluorescently labeled second antibody mixture binds to the analytes captured by the first antibodies on the beads. A standard curve is included for each analyte in the multiplex system in the ranges indicated in the table. The samples and standards are prepared in a multiwell plate such that 80 samples can be processed all together. This assay is for research use only and is not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
